When James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Entertainment, one of the movies that was scrapped was a third Wonder Woman film with director Patty Jenkins once again at the helm. Gal Gadot, who played the warrior from Themyscira in the first two films, however, has shared an update on the status of Wonder Woman in Gunn and Safran’s new vision for DC.
“I love portraying Wonder Woman,” Gadot told Comicbook.com in an interview with the outlet for her upcoming Netflix movie, Heart of Stone. “It’s so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together.”
This is not an official statement from DC, and we know from Henry Cavill’s ill-fated Instagram post where he said that he was coming back as Superman, that not everything the actors say will necessarily happen. Here’s to hoping though, that Gunn and Safran agree with Gadot’s statement, and that we’ll see her once again as Wonder Woman in this latest iteration of the DC Universe.
In the meantime, the last two films from the old regime are still due to come out, with Blue Beetle premiering on August 18, 2023 and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom set to hit theaters on December 20, 2023.
